Spanish Coast and Montserrat

The medieval Church of the Virgen del Socorro stood here but was mostly destroyed by fire in the mid 1400s. This church built in Baroque Valencian Style replaced it in the 1700s with the bell tower not built until 1862. In 2005 the parish changed its name to Santa Maria de Peñíscola.
